Located near the city of Campeche, founded in the 16th century and rich in history, culture and striking architecture, the resort features a spacious clubhouse providing guests with luxurious amenities and an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Course surrounded by native flora, fauna, lakes, mangrove, and jungle. During the construction process of the golf course, small Mayan ruins were found throughout the property. Some of those were included in the design, such as hole 8 and its "juego de pelotas", laying right in front of the green.
The Campeche Playa Golf Club is a par 72, a design that challenges the professional players but also gives the opportunity to the average golfers to enjoy and guarantee a great time. In order to maintain the highest quality standards of playing conditions, the golf course will feature the latest technology in irrigation, construction materials and it will incorporate the latest variety in turf. For Campeche Playa Golf Marina & Spa Resort not only the conditions come to play, but also the environmental sense, as we are striving to become the "The most ecological and exclusive Golf Resort in Latin America" with the use of the latest maintenance techniques, use of organic materials combined with a sustainable irrigation of sewage water.
The Signature hole in Campeche Playa Golf Club will be hole 12, a par 3 along the beach, the same beach where the Hawksbill Turtle comes to spawn, a unique and a must see event that only happens in the beaches of Campeche, Mexico.
I am fascinated in participating in this project, first as a golf course designer, and now with the Golden Bear Residences. I don't only enjoy golf, but other outdoor sports like tennis, fishing, sailing or diving, among others. This resort offers all those possibilities, and we are proud to contribute to that - Jack Nicklaus.
