A Club Goes Corporate

The first priority for a private club is, of course, privacy. Members pay for the privilege of playing and dining when they want and running the place the way they want it run. So the club's nine-member board of directors hired Troon Golf, a management company that runs things for about 200 courses all over the world. Troon sent Backman to El Macero to right the ship... click here for the entire story.

Indian Wells Selects New Management Company for Resort

In open session, the council voted 5-0 to approve the selection of Arizona-based Troon Golf as its new management company to oversee the city-owned resort and public clubhouse.

"The decision that we're making as a council today is one of the most important decisions facing the city right now," Mullany said. "What it does is put a management company in place at the largest asset we have as a city."

The company will replace OB Sports, which has managed the resort for more than four years.

"It was a good relationship and a successful one. But we're ready for the next level."... click here for the entire story.

Quality Assured

Iain Raymond-Walker reveals how companies such as Troon Golf are leading the way in the world-wide development of a new breed.

The standard by which golfing experiences are measured probably doesn't vary all that much from golfer to golfer. The quality principle stays fairly constant throughout: Pace and smoothness of greens, course layout, playability, quality of bunkers, practice facilities, club house ambiance and service levels of the staff, are all common themes... click here for the entire story.
