Haig Point, a private residential community is nestled in one of South Carolina's most spectacular natural preserves, Daufuskie Island. Renown for its breath taking scenery and abundant wildlife, Haig Point has long been one of the best-kept secrets in golf.
The Signature Course offers 29 holes, utilizing the unique ecological setting through indigenous Low Country vegetation and salt water marshes. Rees Jones, the original course architect, recently returned to Haig Point to restore the highly acclaimed 20-hole Signature Course to its former prominence in the golf world. Renovation on the course began in mid February of 2007 and was later completed in November of the same year. Jones' plan was not to completely reconfigure the course, which has appeared several times on Golf Digest's "America's 100 Greatest Courses" list, but to make improvements on what was already in place.
Haig Point is undergoing several additional renovations including an upgrade to its ferry system, with the addition of the new Haig Point IV and a new beach club called The Calibogue Club, which will include a world-class oceanfront dining facility.
Haig Point offers a wide variety of amenities including a tennis complex with six Har–Tru courts, a fully-equipped fitness center, two swimming pools, beach club, equestrian center, croquet court, and community area. Accommodations, for members and their guests, are available in the Strachan Mansion, Historic Lighthouse and rental homes.
